Volunteer Engagement Coordinator II

 

  • Reports to: Sr. Community Engagement Manager
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Job Classification:     Full Time, Hourly
  • Work Location: Duvall, WA- Hybrid (2 days in office; Wednesdays required)
  • Wage: $25.00 -$30.00 per hour

BACKGROUND :

Acres of Diamonds’ mission is to create lasting change for moms and kids experiencing homelessness through a caring community. As one of the few facilities in Eastern King County specifically serving homeless women and children, our organization strives to meet the current need and increase our capacity through innovation. Our services and programs are focused on healing through relationship. We value and depend on the whole community from residents and staff to volunteers and donors to the communities where we operate to complete our mission. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY :

This position requires a highly motivated person who has a passion for following God, serving women and children experiencing homelessness, and equipping volunteers to engage in the mission at Acres of Diamonds. As the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator II, this person will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the volunteer’s experience. The successful candidate will have proven organizational abilities, an aptitude for following processes, care for both individuals and the mission at Acres, enjoy working both individually and collaborating with others, and love creating opportunities for people to step into their unique skillsets while volunteering. In this role, the Volunteer Engagement Manager will continually evaluate volunteer systems for efficacy, make improvements as needed, and work directly with program staff to ensure a smooth onboarding experience and meet the needs of the organization.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of the volunteer recruitment process, including ensuring that key open positions are actively being filled and that staff is participating in the recruitment process.
    • Schedule prospective volunteer meetings and communicate schedule clearly to staff and other stakeholders as needed.
    • Proactively identify current and future volunteer needs in collaboration with staff and leadership.
    • Oversee volunteer onboarding, training, and follow up, leveraging and training staff as needed to accomplish this task.
    • Continuously refine onboarding and training materials to improve clarity, engagement, and volunteer preparedness.
    • Ensure interested volunteers complete training, background checks, and any necessary skill checks prior to beginning volunteer service.
    • Assist staff in creating new volunteer opportunities that will further the mission of Acres of Diamonds.
    • Support the collection of volunteer information, availability, and skills by maintaining and improving data tracking systems to ensure accurate records, timely statistical and activity reporting, and effective distribution of volunteer profiles to designated staff managers, who lead role-specific training and ongoing supervision.
  • Analyze the efficacy of volunteer activities. Propose and execute improvements to streamline volunteer administration. Leverage tools like Excel and database exports to create custom reports that support program improvements and leadership decision-making.
  • Ensure staff managers follow up on volunteer relationships and are trained in volunteer management.
  • (Update) Build partnerships with aligned groups to coordinate service opportunities, working with staff managers to schedule group projects. Ensure a positive volunteer experience by providing on-site support, including necessary materials, water, and snacks.
  • Network with local churches and community groups for the purpose of recruiting volunteers and raising awareness about the needs of homeless moms and kids.
  • Represent Acres with both professionalism and relational warmth.
  • Manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
  • Take ownership and lead volunteer recognition and appreciation, continuing the culture of “every gift and person matters.”
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS :

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church community.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, or managing mid level size groups required
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, volunteers, donors, and staff
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness, particularly regarding the needs of individuals from varied economic and cultural backgrounds.
  •  Computer skills: Highly proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet navigation.
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license and ability to travel and transport Acres materials regularly to off-site locations.
  •  Ability to manage time independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 40lbs.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS :

  • Experience managing people preferred.
  • Prior experience using volunteer management software preferred
