Senior Legal Researcher - Georgetown University Center for Global Health Science and Security

Requirements

The Georgetown University Center for Global Health Science and Securit y conducts original research to help decision makers worldwide build sustainable capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies and provide policymakers, donors, and researchers with a high-quality evidence base to make decisions that promote health security.

The Senior Legal Researcher will assist with various analytic, research, and logistic tasks to support the research portfolio of the Center for Global Health Science and Security, as well as develop their own line of work aligned with the Center. They will work closely with Dr. Rebecca Katz, the Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security, and contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects relating to health security, health governance, domestic emergency response law, and diplomacy. In particular, they will:

  • Support and develop efforts to strengthen pandemic preparedness and response.
  • Support AMP EID policy analysis.
  • Contribute to domestic preparedness and response governance work, national health security and resilience, and legal scholarship.
  • Support the educational mission, including developing lectures and eventually possible courses.




Work Interactions


The incumbent will work primarily with the other legal scholars in the Center and report to Dr. Katz. They would be expected to work collaboratively with other members of the research center, including faculty and research and administrative staff. The Senior Legal Researcher would also help supervise junior legal researchers.



Requirements and Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in law, public policy, health economics, health policy, or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of professional work experience
  • Demonstrated interest in law and governance
  • Verbal communication, legal searchers, database management, literature review, and online research skills
  • Ability to prioritize, focus and achieve results in a fast paced and complex environment
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks under tight deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining attention to results and detail
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate and work others in order to achieve team goals
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team

Pay Range:


The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23


Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
