IT Consultant (Remote) Location Fairfax, VA : Overview: GovCIO is currently hiring for a seasoned Strategic Consultant to support a program within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ideal candidate will have experience operating effectively on programmatic, technical, and strategic efforts at an enterprise level. This position requires a proactive, forward-leaning individual that will develop executive-level artifacts and make recommendations with little to no direction. Additionally, the candidate will be interfacing with all levels of the organization and coordinating between multiple program offices, so communication skills that are clear, crisp, and concise are critical to success. This will be a remote position. Responsibilities:
- Assist with creating senior executive presentations that convert complex, technical jargon into plain language and easily interpreted visual aids.
- Assist with reading, researching, collecting, and analyzing information/ideas to generate strategies and recommended paths forward that produce beneficial resolutions for VA program leadership.
- Create and manage a tracker of tasks/action items by key personnel to depict workload volume, capacity, and capabilities.
- Create and maintain a Microsoft Project Plan to manage milestones and manpower assigned to various acquisition tasks/projects.
- Create quick charts and status reports from centralized data on workloads, time allocation, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams consisting of VA leadership members, stakeholders, technical teams, and administrative staff to create customer focused products.
- Proven ability to create visual depictions of quantitative information (e.g., charts, graphs, etc.).
- Must have strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
- Provide program/project status reports to the VA customer as requested.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate meetings with the customer and stakeholders. Capture and track/manage action items.
- Assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or process flow diagrams as requested.
- Must have strong experience proposing new solutions to problems, often thinking outside of the box to come up with creative solutions.
- Work with the Government stakeholders to develop priorities, strategy, and roadmaps for VA IT programs/projects.
- Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Interface with internal and Government management personnel.
- Must be able to use qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of the operations and executions of a large organization.
- Must be able to identify and mitigate risks to the program.
Qualifications: Required Skills and Experience: - Bachelor's with 12+ years (or commensurate experience)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and OneNote.
- Experience providing support to Senior Executives. Includes organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical experience with large-scale IT projects.
- Acute attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Experience supporting a distributed project team.
- Experience managing and coordinating tasks and resources to ensure the end project deliverable(s) are met on budget on time.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.
- Ability to be productive and be a strong contributor with minimal guidance.
- Proven experience supporting senior/executive-level Leadership.
Preferred Skills and Experience: - Experience on government contracts and working as a Trusted Advisor.
- Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs IT projects.
- Experience navigating complex acquisitions and related processes (i.e., Time & Materials contracts, $100M+ Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Task Orders)

Posted Pay Range The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors. Posted Salary Range: USD $140,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
