What You'll Do:

The Principal Financial Group is seeking an HR Consultant/Business Partner for Enterprise Finance and Principal Asset Management with a focus on the Global Finance Journey - an exciting opportunity to evolve our Global Finance Community.

 

Bring your expertise in strategic Human Resources to the Finance Community as matrixed organizations reimagine operating models from Corporate Headquarters to a specific business line with a global footprint, Principal Asset Management. Your passion for people strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of talent at Principal. As an HR Business Partner/ Consultant within our dynamic and matrixed enterprise, you’ll serve as a strategic advisor and catalyst for growth aligning talent solutions with ambitious business goals.

 

As a key member of both the Enterprise Human Resources team and your assigned client group leadership teams, you’ll drive initiatives that unlock performance, accelerate leadership, and build a resilient, inclusive culture.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Talent Leadership : Translate business strategy and market insights into a forward-thinking human capital strategy. Design and implement initiatives that drive succession planning, critical talent development, and organizational effectiveness. 
  • Talent Management Excellence : Champion a holistic approach to talent through high-impact, transformational projects in collaboration with HRBPs and Centers of Excellence (COEs). Leverage data and analytics to guide decisions, influence leadership, and shape workforce strategies.
  • Global Organizational Design : Play a key role in the evolution of global operating models across Enterprise Finance and Principal Asset Management, ensuring alignment, scalability, and effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner seamlessly with COEs including Talent, Compensation, Legal, and Finance to craft integrated people solutions that move the business forward.
  • Enterprise-Wide Impact : Lead initiatives that influence Principal's global HR strategy and reinforce our commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and employee success.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, 4+ years’ experience in HR, including experience in strategy/planning, compensation, development, talent management, and leadership
  • Understanding of line of business and related industry and broad understanding of business unit required
  • Asset Management experience is preferred
  • Must be able to build strong relationships and influence senior leaders
  • Strong organizational/project management skills; strategic thinking/planning and decision-making skills with high level of diagnostic and analytical skills required
  • Good communication, facilitation, and presentation skills required

 

Hiring Level: We are open to hiring at the next level depending on experience and qualifications.

  • For the Consultant level, in addition to the above, a candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, 4+ years’ experience in HR, including experience in strategy/planning, compensation, development, talent management, and leadership
  • For the HR Business Partner level, a candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, plus 8+ years of experience in HR, including experience in strategy/planning, compensation, development, talent management, and leadership

**Please note that the salary range is reflective of the full range for both levels for which we may hire in this role. 

Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $106400 - $167000 / year Time Off Program: Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Pension Eligible: Yes Additional Information:

Work Environments/Location

This role offers hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) at our corporate office in Des Moines, Iowa.
