FLORAL DESIGNER  (Part-Time)

What you'll be doing in this role...


Under the direction of the Floral Supervisor and in close collaboration with the SingleThread team, the Floral Designer is responsible for creating beautiful, innovative, and high-quality floral arrangements that reflect the aesthetic and standards of SingleThread. The ideal candidate will have a strong creative eye, a passion for floral design, and a working knowledge of flower care, including their nutritional and environmental needs. A successful Floral Designer is detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and committed to upholding SingleThread’s high standards of quality and design excellence.

  • Work with floral leadership team to prepare arrangements for culinary, restaurant, and inn
  • Work with culinary team to fulfill their vision for plating and table displays
  • Work with a wide range of foliage and flowers
  • Find vendors to supply seasonal flowers
  • Order and purchase flowers and supplies from wholesalers and growers
  • Unpack flowers and prepare for storage
  • Cut stems to proper length
  • Keep flowers watered and fresh
  • Discard wilting or dead foliage and flowers
  • Harvesting & post- harvest handling: harvesting, sorting, packing
  • Ensure Kaizen mentality in quality of foliage, flowers, arrangements, and self
  • Consistent, thorough, and timely communication with peers and management


In an ideal world, you have: 

  • 1+ year of related floral experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage information with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (including oral, written) 
  • Relevant experience in fine dining hospitality/restaurant operations
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints
  • Must have creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization
  • Highly punctual, responsible, and reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner as outlined by the Floral leadership team
  • The ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, push/pull, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays and extended hours as business needs arise

 

ENVIRONMENTAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely and successfully with federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time 
  • Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, climb stairs and steps, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
