The Division of Extension and Engagement and the College of Agricultural Sciences are seeking an Extension General Agriculture Educator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position in Lake County.

This Extension General Agricultural Educator position is with the Division of Extension and Engagement's (division) Extension Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources program. This Educator is based at the Extension Service Lake County office in Lakeview, Oregon and will serve Lake County. The purpose of this position is to provide programmatic leadership for Extension programs in agriculture and natural resources in Lake County.

This Extension General Agriculture Educator will conduct needs assessments and will develop and deliver non-credit educational programs. This Educator will contribute to activities in topics relevant to range, forage production, livestock, and general agriculture in Lake County. This position will serve as an educational liaison to local agricultural organizations and state and federal agencies as well as work collaboratively with agricultural producers in the region, commodity organizations, and subject-matter specialists to provide Extension programs in the assigned county.

In addition, this Educator is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and/or carrying out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with civil rights and language/visual access regulations.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelor's Degree in field relevant to program focus. May require certification or licensure as appropriate to the position.

Requirements :

• Bachelor's degree in animal sciences, rangeland sciences, natural resources, agriculture, or a closely related field. Degree must be completed by the start date.
• Demonstrated teaching (formal and/or informal) skills appropriate for adult learners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate successfully with a broad and diverse audience.
• Must have or be able to obtain an Oregon Department of Agriculture Pesticide Consultant License within six months of employment and maintain the license throughout employment.
• Transferable skills and knowledge of beef cattle, irrigated forage, and/or arid-climate rangeland production systems.
• Knowledge and ability to use computers, including proficiency with information technology, professional office software, and collaborative work platforms.
• Ability to learn and adapt to using multiple forms of digital communications tools and systems, including websites, email newsletters, social media, and other tools in a changing technological environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to plan, organize, manage, and evaluate non-formal education programs.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and evidence of successful time management skills.
• A commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

• The ability to transport and lift/carry/push/pull field and office equipment/materials weighing up to 40 lbs. is required.
• Travel/driving is required to provide educational programming and services throughout Lake County and in the Southern region, as necessary.
