The University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications (CJC) in Gainesville seeks an accomplished sports media professional to join our faculty as a Visiting Assistant In/Associate In for Sports Media position.

This position is a 3-year appointment and is a 12-month essential personnel non-tenure track role designed for candidates with a strong background in any of the following areas: sports media, production, broadcast, as well as experience across various media platforms.

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching, mentoring students, managing content creation, and participating in professional organizations, with a focus on enhancing the educational experience in sports media. The successful candidate should offer distinguished service to its department, college, university and profession.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach up to the equivalent of two three-credit-hour courses per semester.

• Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students as assigned.

• Promote, oversee & teach select immersive experiences in our Sports@CJC program

• Manage student content creation within the Innovation News Center (INC).

• Oversee and schedule student content coverage for WRUF and WUFT.

• Collaborate and facilitate content creation with fellow managers within the INC.

• Participate in scholarly and professional organizations.

• Engage in shared governance and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media, Communication or related field.
Five years of professional experience in sports media, production, broadcast and communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Journalism, Media, Communication or related field.

• Experience teaching in higher education.

• A national reputation for excellence in sports media.

• Experience with producing/editorial lead of a live sports preview or postgame show

• Experience in producing live sporting events

• Experience with sports play-by-play

• Experience with Adobe Suite, ENPS, NewsBoss, WordPress or similar programs.

• Ability to oversee content creation and distribution on multiple platforms.

• Capability to engage and mentor students in sports broadcasting/content creation best practices and techniques.

• Commitment to institution-building and collaborative initiatives at the college and university level.
