Description of Work:

The Archives Specialist helps manage and provide access to rare and unique materials in Archives & Special Collections. The position is responsible for archival accessioning; managing collection locations in dedicated tools; and arranging and describing collections. In collaboration with other members of the unit, this position also supports students, faculty, and other researchers in their use of materials in the collections.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree plus two years of archival, library, or related experience; year-for-year post-secondary education may be substituted for archival or library experience.
• Ability to develop reference skills, work independently within archival guidelines, handle detailed work, be flexible, and adapt to change.
• Experience must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
• Ability to interact with donors and patrons.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work with materials that may have dust or mold.
• Ability to move library carts up to 100 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree.
• Experience with archival and library technologies and standards, including ArchivesSpace, spreadsheet software, and archival metadata standards.
• Experience with archival accessioning or processing.
• Experience providing reference services.

Posted Salary: $50,000/yr. minimum
